The death of a Massachusetts man is being investigated as a homicide two days after his body was found in a wooded area in the small town of Paxton.The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office identified the victim as 29-year-old Ernest A. Appiah, of Worcester.District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said Appiah’s body was discovered just before 7 a.m. Saturday after a Paxton resident called 911 to report they saw the body about 25 feet into the woods off Asnebumskit Road. State police detectives assigned to Early’s office returned to the scene on Sunday to further investigate the area. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Appiah’s body and ruled his death a homicide.Paxton police and multiple state police units — including the Crime Scene Services Section, Crime Lab, K-9 Unit, Firearms Identification Section and Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) — are assisting the Worcester County DA’s state police detective team in the ongoing investigation.
