A Massachusetts teenager is dead and four others are injured following a single-car crash in Dover, according to police.Dover police said the crash happened at about 1:10 a.m. Saturday on Walpole Street, near the intersection of Powder House Road.Investigators determined the vehicle, a 2016 Honda CRV, was traveling north on Walpole Street when — for unknown reasons — the driver lost control and the vehicle left the roadway, striking a guardrail and coming to a rest against a tree.The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old male from Sherborn, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.Police said there were four passengers in the vehicle: an 18-year-old male from Dover; an 18-year-old male from Sherborn; and two 17-year-old males from Dover. Each of those passengers were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.John Smith, principal of Dover-Sherborn Regional High School, identified the young man who was killed as Owen Bingham in a statement shared with NewsCenter 5 Sunday morning.Bingham was captain of the Dover-Sherborn golf team and helped lead the squad to its first state championship this past fall.”Owen Bingham was an outstanding student, captain of the state championship golf team and a young man who loved supporting his friends and peers in all DS sports. He was just as comfortable talking to any adult in the high school as he was his many friends. We have lost a truly special human being. We are heartbroken,” Smith said in his statement.Bingham’s friends and classmates left flowers at the site of the crash Saturday evening before attending a memorial service at Pilgrim Church in Sherborn.Smith said the high school will be offering grief counseling from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, and that Riverside Grief Counseling Services will be on the school’s campus throughout the rest of the week. The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction and Crime Scene Services sections are assisting Dover police with their investigation of the crash.
