Police investigation shuts down I-65 near Shepherdsville

A Louisville man is facing multiple charges after leading authorities on a chase from southern Indiana to Bullitt County, resulting in the SWAT team being called in.Jeffrey A. He then fled from police around I-65 near Interstate 265, leading authorities down past the Louisville Metro.Investigators said state troopers joined the pursuit when it reached the 117-mile marker on I-65 near Shepherdsville. They said that Thomas could be seen driving in a reckless manner with speeds of up to 100 mph.Members of the LMPD were also called in to assist, which included the SWAT team.When the pursuit ended on the interstate, a standoff with SWAT ensued before law enforcement officers were able to coax Thomas out of the vehicle. The arrest was caught on video by WLKY Chopper HD.The situation caused a miles-long backup and closed down both sides of the interstate. Paramedics could be seen providing medical assistance to Thomas before he was taken away from the scene. Thomas’ charges include receiving stolen property, first-degree wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, and several other traffic violations.The suspect was then booked into the Bullitt County Detention Center.Additional details were not released.
