Albuquerque police said they are looking for a man who kidnapped three people, broke into several buildings, stole vehicles and shot at people.The string of crimes started Sunday night around 11:20 p.m. when a man stole a work truck from a business at Iron Avenue and Elm Street Southeast, the Albuquerque Police Department said. That driver caused a disturbance in the area before crashing near Gibson Boulevard and Interstate 25, roughly two miles from where police said he stole the truck.A nearby person who went to check out where the crash happened was shot at by the driver before he ran away, police said.About 40 minutes later, police said a home on Elm Street and Thaxton Avenue Southeast was broken into. Officers who went to the scene noticed signs of a struggle and an empty gun holster. Police said they also found signs that a person who lives there was kidnapped, and her vehicle was also taken.Police said that woman was found around 1:30 a.m. — over an hour after being kidnapped — while officers were heading to the 7500 block of Willow Run Drive Northeast after getting calls about a home invasion. The woman told police that the man drove with her in the car until it ran out of gas by the home. A homeowner who spoke with police said they heard a gunshot and a male yelling, prompting the family at that home to hide while the intruder stole their white Honda. Around 2:25 a.m., police said deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office spoke with two women at Gibson Boulevard near Interstate 25 who said they were kidnapped from a gas station at Carlisle Boulevard Southeast and Gibson Boulevard Southeast. The women told deputies the man shot at them before abducting them.The women were later kicked out of the car near Rio Brave Southwest, police said.A third burglary happened around 3:20 a.m. at a home in the 1000 block of Chama Street Northeast, police said. The burglar attacked the homeowner and barricaded himself in the garage until he drove off with that homeowner’s vehicle, a silver Prius.The white Honda that was stolen from the home on Willow Run Drive was found nearby, police said.After the break-ins, kidnappings and shootings, police said they found the man in the stolen Prius and chased him as he was driving westbound on eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 before turning into a dirt road near Coors Boulevard Northwest. Officers lost sight of him shortly afterward.
